Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conference with chief ministers of all states on Thursday, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are also present in the meet.
Topics like ways to stop the spread of the COVID-19, movement of migrants and contact tracing of Tablighi Jamat participants have come up reportedly. They have also discussed the availability of the essential items in the respective states.
Some close circles state that Chief Ministers of various states were in the opinion that lockdown should be lifted in phases no at once as the situation is still not in control in some states.
India has registered 386 new cases of COVID-19 in last 24 hours, taking the tally to 1,637 in the country, the government said on Wednesday and linked the sharp increase in the number of cases to the Tablighi meet at Nizamuddin which has become the new epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
