The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted its report on the knife attack case on YS Jaganmohan Reddy to the court.
The NIA concurred with the report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which had also investigated the knife attack case on YSR Congress president and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The central investigation agency’s investigation report stated that accused Janepalli Srinivas Rao was a huge fan of YS Jagan and had intentionally attacked the YCP president. The charge sheet stated that the accused Srinivas Rao had a chat with Jagan before the attack and had carried out the knife attack in order to evoke sympathy towards the Opposition leader.
The NIA in its report referred the doctor’s certificate that the injury on the left arm of Jagan was a centimetre long, half a centimetre wide and three and a half centimetres deep.
The accused is said to have told Jagan “Sir, our party will win 160 seats in the elections”. Srinivas Rao is said to have discussed his plan to attack Jagan a day before with his colleagues who worked with him at the airport food court as well.
Janepalli is also said to have requested a colleague named Hemalatha to talk to the YRCP leaders and help him take a selfie with YS Jagan.
The NIA charge sheet stated that the accused entered the VIP lounge to serve food to the Opposition leader and his supporters.
The NIA report concluded that the attack was intentionally carried out by YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s admirer Janepalli, to gain sympathy votes in the upcoming elections in Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh SIT had also submitted a similar report in its earlier investigations.
Janepally Srinivas Rao has been booked under IPC Section 307 for Attempt to Murder.
